Meet Carissa

Carissa’s experience with holistic health and alternative medicine provides a unique experience for her clients.

In 2016, her exploration of holistic health ignited a passion to help others discover their own natural healing.

After nearly a year of health-focused travel in East Maui, Hawaii, she enrolled at the Alberta College of Massage Therapy and graduated with distinction.

Carissa’s approach is nurturing, attentive, and restorative. She specializes in therapeutic relaxation massage, an immersive method to treat pain and symptoms of stress and anxiety. Slow-flowing, rhythmic strokes increase circulation and slow the heart rate. In soothing the nervous system, the healing systems of the body are supported.

Her treatments typically combine both relaxation and therapeutic techniques. She often incorporates subtle healing techniques, such as reflexology, vagus nerve stimulation, sound healing, breath work, and energy work in her approach.

You can expect a custom, client-focused treatment that initiates the healing of body and mind. Current services include: Therapeutic Massage Therapy, Relaxation Massage Therapy, Auricular Therapy, and Cupping Massage, including Facial Cupping.

When not in the treatment room, she enjoys trying new whole-food recipes, researching nutrition, taking pottery classes, gardening, and practising hot yoga.

Treatments

1. Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage is used to treat acute or chronic injury, pain, immobility, or aid in the management of clinical disease. Every therapeutic treatment starts with an assessment and plan, with the goal of restoring  balance in the body. This can be combined with relaxation massage.

2. Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage uses a gentle, restorative approach to help renew body and mind. Long, gliding strokes encourage circulatory health, aiding in improved health and overall wellness. Kneading and scooping techniques help loosen tight muscles and encourage a relaxed, blissful state of mind.

3. Cupping Massage

Myofascial cupping may be added to your massage treatment. Through the use of special plastic cups, suction is made on the skin that draws the tissue into the cup. The suction then creates negative pressure to lift, separate and stretch the soft tissues, accelerating healing from tension or injury.

What Treatment Should I Book?

Many people enjoy a combination of therapeutic and relaxation massage, with the optional addition of cupping for therapeutic effect. During your intake, Carissa will help identify your preferred approach.

Carissa’s approach to deep tissue massage is not about causing pain or using heavy pressure.
